The ESI Corporation is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment and is making several benefits available to the workers covered under the scheme in the country. The ESI Scheme was started in 1952. Since then it has been growing and as of now it is covering about 1.71 crore workers in the country and their families. The total number of beneficiaries under the Scheme comes about 6.8 crores which is a significant part of the population of the country.

          The ESI Corporation has opened Sub Regional Office at Gurgaon since September-2008 and it is working to cater to the needs of the workers in Gurgaon, Manesar, Dharuhera, Bawal, Rewari, Mahindergarh, Sohna etc. The number of Insured Persons under Sub Regional Office Gurgaon is above 6 lakhs and the total number of beneficiaries of the scheme under this Sub Regional Office comes to 24.5 lakhs approximately.

          ESIC-SRO Gurgaon is providing Medical Benefits through its 11 Dispensaries including 1 Mobile dispensary and tie-up arrangements for Super Specialty with the 10 reputed Medical Institutions including the following three at Gurgaon :-

                     1. Artemis Health Institute
                         Sector-51, Gurgaon.
                     2. Paras Hospital
                         C-1, Shushant Lok, Sector-43, Gurgaon.
                     3. Umkal Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.
                         Gurgaon, Haryana.

           In addition to the Medical Benefits we also provide cash benefits to the Insured Persons. During the Financial Year 2010-2011 we have provided cash benefit to IPs to the extent of Rs. 4.29 crores as Cash benefit through our 4 Branch Offices functioning at Gurgaon, Dundahera, Dharuhera and Manesar besides an expenditure of approx. Rs. 20 Crores on Specialty and Super Specialty treatment of IPs through tie up Hospitals.

           SRO Gurgaon cater to the needs of Gurgaon, Rewari, Mewat and Mahendergarh districts of Haryana state. These Areas have witnessed a phenomenal growth of industries during past few years and accordingly the ESI scheme has grown under SRO Gurgaon as follows:-
